Home/2008 photos/Belize/San Ignacio

A few photos from around town During our stay at the Black Rock Lodge we had the opportunity to spend a little bit of time in San Ignacio, though mostly just driving through. On our last night in the jungle we did however stay in town (after our ATM adventure) and had dinner at a local restaurant - Hannah's. We found the food there to be really good and the service was reasonable.. We were just excited to be eating outside of the lodges where we had been staying.. the trip was starting to take on the feel of a catered tour where we were too distant from the real scene. San Ignacio is a quaint little town with a sufficient amount of restaurants and it felt relatively safe, with the requisite amount of locals milling about to give it that hint of a possibility of danger. One of the things that I really liked about Belize, and evidenced well in San Ignacio, is the lack of global brand presence. Everything seems to be locally crafted and there are even few national brands among the country of less than 1 million residents.
