Checking out a few summertime art installations in New York While visiting friends and family in New Jersey and New York, we made a visit into New York to check out a couple of public art exhibits. The first was the waterfalls by Olafur Eliasson. We had seen his exhibits in the SFMOMA earlier in the year and were looking forward to checking out the waterfalls. The day was pretty hot and muggy but the Staten Island Ferry made for a nice break from the heat and humidity and from there we got great views of the waterfalls and the city. After checking them out, we went into one of the old ferry terminals to see David Byrne's exhibit "Playing the Building." It was a fun installation of an old organ hooked up (through electronics and pneumatics) to the building itself which resonated with different sounds. More information about these installations are available on the web. Olafur Eliasson's Waterfalls Playing the Building
