Home/2007 photos/Thailand/Bangkok

The trip began (as most do) with an arrival in BKK After a bit of airport scramble (our flights through Japan were canceled so we had to fly instead through Shanghai - and deal with some headaches associated with that) we arrived in Bangkok around midnight or later. We got a Taxi to our hotel which was more of a small guesthouse so the taxi driver had no idea how to get there. It took a few hours to get into town and drive around for a while and ask directions, etc., but eventually at about 3 AM we hit the sack. We spent a couple of days getting used to the time zone change and seeing some of the sights of Bangkok. We were also planning on a couple of days in Bangkok before our departure so we saved the classic sights for the end of the trip. For these first few days we just checked out the different areas of the city, walking, taking water taxis, tuk-tuks, the skytrain, the subway, taxis.. hmm, I think that's pretty much every transportation method. (Sadly, you don't see the motorbikes around offering rides like you used to). We visited the Marble temple and Dusit Palace as well as checking out Chinatown and other neighborhoods like Prah Atit and Kao San road areas and the main shopping mall area around Siam Center.
