Home/2007 photos/Point Reyes hike

August hiking in Point Reyes Point Reyes is an excellent place for a hike just about any time of the year (if you don't mind fog) but on a sunny summer weekend the views and diversity of topography and scenery is amazing. We head out from the Estero trail head towards Drakes Estero - a bay located towards the North West end of the park. We chose this hike as we thought the relatively flat trail would get along well with my sprained ankle. After crossing across the low hills towards the coast, the trail crosses the end of a small bay and heads up the other side overlooking the Estero. We stopped for lunch along the top of the ridgeline and upon the return we saw the small leopard sharks (or were they bull sharks?) swarming in the shallow waters.
